I was born and raised in Germany and moved to the U.S. to attend college at Penn State University. Pennsylvania wasn’t completely new to me as my mom was from the area and we spent most of our summers visiting family in PA and New Jersey. During my junior year at college, I studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina for what has been the highlight of my life so far. I lived with a wonderful host family and spent the year exploring Argentina, Uruguay, and Peru. When I returned to Penn State I lived for 2 years in the International Friendship House with 20 undergrad and graduate students from all over the world. I am grateful for all of these experiences.

After surviving one too many frigid, icy, gray winters in Pennsylvania I decided I needed sun and warmth. So, in 2011 I made the move to Austin, TX. It was a great decision and I’m excited to be living in such an active and growing city. When not working, I spend a significant amount of time volunteering. Austin is a great city to find volunteer opportunities and I have enjoyed working with a lot of local non-profits. I find volunteering a wonderful way to give back, learn new skills, and meet other like-minded people. Although I keep myself busy with work and volunteering, I try not to forget about self-care and love to re-energize with a trip. Traveling may be one of my greatest passions and I’m always thinking about places I want to see. Despite the love of traveling, Austin is always a welcoming place that I am happy to return to.
